Description:

This concrete tower which is also called Menara Kuala Lumpur, or KL Tower for short, is located at Bukit Nanas. It is officially recognised as the third highest tower in the world at a height of 421 metres.

The KL Tower has the distinction of being the tallest in Southeast Asia. In Malaysia, it is without dispute, the tallest telecommunications tower or structure.

The Kuala Lumpur Tower, which was ready in 1995, is open to visitors at an admission fee. Visitors have the convenience of a high-speed lift, which goes right to the top and stops at a verandah provided for sight-seeing purposes. Here, curious onlookers can get a magnificent view of Kuala Lumpur City and its suburbs.

The KL Tower, which was built at a cost of RM290 million, has Islamic minarets and its windows at the top are made of glass and decorated like the Shah Mosque in Iran.

This towering and impressive structure is essentially a transmission centre. There is also a MacDonald’s outlet and a revolving restaurant. At its base is a tourist information centre.
